Description
Composition:
Each ml solution contains 333 mg sulfadimidine sodium.
Indications:
AGRASUL 33,3 contains sulfadimidine with antimicrobial activity against many Gram-
positive and Gram-negative micro-organisms, like Corynebacterium , E-Coli, Eimeria,
Fusobacterium necrophorum, Pasteurella spp., Salmonella and Streptococcus spp.
Sulfadimidine affect bacterial purine synthesis, as a result of which a blockade is
accomplished.
Indicated in case of infections by microorganisms sensitive to sulfadimidine, as the
occurrence of urogenital, respiratory, gastrointestinal infections like Corynebacterium,
Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp. and Streptococcus spp. in foals, horses,
pigs, sheep and goats.
Contra‑Indications:
Liver or renal dysfunctions, diseases with decreased urine production (oliguria, anuria),
hypersensitivity to sulfonamides.
Side-effects:
Sometimes hemorrhagic enteritis (in cattle), kidney damage, hypersensitivity reactions or
crystalluria.
Dosage and Administration: For subcutaneous and intramuscular administration.
General dose is 3-6 ml per 10 kg bodyweight on the first day followed by 3 ml per 10 kg
body weight during 2‑5 days.
Recommendations and Warnings:
Sulfadimidine is rapidly absorbed from the site of application and slowly excreted by the
organism, so in most animals a single daily dose is sufficient. Bacterial resistance against
sulfonamides mostly is permanent and cross‑resistance between sulfonamides is
common. Sulfadimidine is incompatible with para‑aminobenzoic acid and its esters (e.g.
procaine or tetracaine). Do not administer simultaneously with hexamethylene
tetramine(methenamine).
DO NOT USE TOGETHER WITH IRON AND OTHER METALS.
Withdrawal time: 10 days before slaughtering and 5 days before milking.
Storage: Keep closed in a cool and dry place, away from sunlight and safe from children.
Packing:
48 vials of 100 ml in 1 carton.
