Description
Composition:
Each ml solution contains 200 mg Phenylbutazone sodium.
Indications:
Phenylbutazone is a synthetic non-steroid anti-inflammatory agent, which also exhibits analgesic and anti-pyretic properties (without loss of consciousness ). It is especially useful in the treatment of (rheumatoid) dysfunction’s of joints, arthrosis, arthritis of different origins and rheumatic disorder of muscles.
Arthritis, bursitis, myositis, tendinitis, tendo-vaginitis, neuritis, impotentia coeundi of bull and boar. Painful injury (like luxation, sprain, muscle damage) enzootic pneumonia and in combination with antibiotic treatment, mastitis in horses, cattle, pigs dogs and cats.
Contra‑Indications:
When used in very young animals with simultaneous administration of other strong protein binding drugs. (like salicylates and sulphonamides); heart-,liver- or renal dysfunction’s.
Side-effects:
Sometimes kidney damage with haemorrhages or blood dyscrasias may occur (long term treatment), furthermore gastric and enteral irritation, and in horse oederna, erosions of buccal mucosa and necroses of hepatic veins have been reported, especially after extended doses.
Dosage and Administration:
Slow intravenous or deep intramuscular administration
Horses: 10-20 ml per animal i.v. (maximal 5 days)
Cattle: 10 ml per animal i.v. or i.m.
Calf, foal: 6-10 ml per animal i.v. or i.m.
Pigs: 2-5 ml per animal i.m.
Dogs: 1 ml per 15 kg bodyweight i.v. or i.m.
Cats: 0.3 ml per animal i.v. or i.m.
Treatment of racing-horses should be stopped at least 5 days before the race (dope).
Avoid the application of more than 10 ml per injection site in cows, and more than 2 ml per injection site in dogs because of tissue damage.
Withdrawal time: 10 days before slaughtering and 4 days before milking.
Storage: Keep closed in a cool and dry place, away from sunlight and safe from children.
