Description
Composition:
Each ml. suspension contains:
400 mg Sulfadiazine.
80 mg Trimethoprim.
1 ml solvents ad.
Indications:
Infections caused by bacteriae, susceptible to trimethoprim and/or sulfadiazine, like gastro-intestinal-, respiratory tract or urogential tract infections and general infections in poultry.
The combination of trimethoprim and sulfadiazine acts synergistic and in many cases bactericidal against a large number of Grampositive and Gramnegative bacteria, e.g. E.coli, Haemophilus, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus spp in calves, sheep, goats, poultry and swine.
After oral administration both components will be absorbed rapidly and moderately complete, from the gastro-intestinal tract
Dosage and Administration: Orally via the drinking water.
Calves, goats and sheep: Twice daily 5 ml per 100 kg bodyweight for 4-7 days.
Poultry and swine: 1 ltr per 1.500-2.500 liter of drinkingwater for 4-7 days.
Note: for pre-ruminants calves, lambs and kids only.
Recommendations and Warnings:
After long-term treatment and high dosage crystalluria can occur. When symptoms of crystalluria occur, haematuria, kidney colic) treatment has to be stopped immediately and for example sodium carbonate (alkalinises) has to be administered for increasing urine solubility of sulfadiazine.
Hypersensitivity reactions, crossresistance to sulfonamide. Administration for a prolonged period may also increase the risk of blood dyscrasias and folic acid deficiency. Anaemia, leucopenia and thrombocytopenia.
Incompatible with a simultaneous administration of para-aminobenzoic acid or esters of it (procaine tetracaine) or with methenamine.
Withdrawal time: 6 days before slaughtering, 2 days for milk and 4 days for eggs.
Storage: Keep closed in a cool and dry place, away from sunlight and safe from children.
